A fine day with thirty two players (sixteen doubles) attending.
Both finals were played after lunch on Saturday, 30th April
Pennock Cup
The finalists were Ingrid Richards & David Lipman versus Muriel Molsher & Sonia Lee.
Pennock Plate
The finalists were Bob Webster & Peter Rauch versus John Sylvester & Margaretha Goodman
After two closely fought games the winners of the Cup were Muriel & Sonia taking their game by 13 points to 9.
The Plate winners were Bob & Peter by 13 points to 11.
Of particular note was the steady play by Muriel & Sonia, consistently good pointing by Ingrid and John throughout the day. It was pleasing to see Margaretha back on form after her illness, Peter whose game has markedly improved and finally but by no means least Bob’s play especially as he does not play in all our competitions.
I hope these are good omens for our match play this season.
Mike Kateley our chairman congratulated the finalists and winners awarded the trophies and suitable liquid prizes with which to celebrate.
Although not part of the Pennock Cup & Plate competition Christine Kateley produced a most excellent cake properly decorated in recognition of the Royal Wedding duly consumated by all with expressions of good fortune to the newly Weds.
