Alex Myles reports:
The Wasps played Crondall Tigers at Kirdford on Tuesday 17 May. Although the score line was 2-7, the match was closely contested.
The two Jeans, Green and Vanstone, beat Crondall's third pair 13-5, and Jill and I beat the same pair 13-8. We both lost timed out games to their second pair, the two Jeans at 9-11 and Jill and I at 7-10. We both lost the games with their first pair.
The three Musketeers, Chris, John and Glynn, had a dramatic evening. In the first game, Chris and John reached 12 all. Chris had our last boule in hand and Crondall similarly had one. They were holding 1 on the ground with their boule about 2 inches from the coche, on a long end, and Chris to play. He did exactly what was required, with a perfect carreau to leave his boule the same 2 inches from the coche. We were convinced we had now won, but as luck and skill would have it, Crondall produced the identical shot to win 13-12 !!! John and Glynn lost the second game 7-13 and Glynn and Chris lost the last game 12-13, Their results could easily have been the other way.
The Tigers were a sporting bunch and we are looking forward to the return match and hope that we can then reverse the score.
